One of the key things I feel here are the last lines. Lipton says that when humanity as the receptors of Gaia form a new singularity, "the Earth as a single organism will hook up with other Ones."  The great revelation to me was that: of course there is life throughout the universe looking to link with each other to form a greater collective whole.   Humanity coming together is an invitation for other humanities to join with us to share more information.  In fact the much anticipated date of 2012 is nothing but the acknowledgment of the Earth in its galactic relation (with the center of the Milky Way), as opposed to our solar orientation. - Alan Steinfeld
