A seemingly simple question - about a vast interwoven subject.

We are all pure -everything is - at a certain level.
It is the other levels that are the 'fun.'

We are all still forming - one way or the other.

Let us take a look at why we need to know - anything.
What does it have to do with living, in the moment? Nothing.
"Take no thought of the morrow..."
"Every second is the first second of your life."

When wanting to know is out of pure curiosity we are expanding.
When it is out of fear, wanting to change the way it is in the moment, it is
contraction; the will; a choice; a demand.
When we attempt to force change through the perspective of the distortion of
the conditioned mind, will, there will be dire consequences.
When we allow 'life' to flow through/with us, with gratefulness, and sharing
with other's, there is a very pleasant feeling.

Of course we want to feel good - or at least better, but the path to that
state is through the unconditional moment - living and experiencing,
unconditionally, the moment, just as it. How can we 'manufacture' happiness
when the people who programmed our minds are not happy. They cannot even
make themselves happy. They cannot tell us because they do not know. If they
did know they would be a living example - as in some of the Sufi ways, they
would not need to teach, we would absorb through their example.

Take a look at the possibility that everything is for us.
We are experiencing whatever we are experiencing in the moment, because that
is what we need to experience in the moment, because we have not yet
balanced that aspect of ourselves. Just take it as a theory anyway, and
experiment with that possibility.

Our view of life is through gross ignorance - on practically all levels.
We assume we can 'conquer nature.' Not doing too well in that department are
we. We are living longer, but for most people, most of the time, it is just
longer to be in misery.

We 'save' premature babies - without even considering the consequences -
because we are not interested so much in the baby - we just want what we
want. Our neurotic way. Now!

As we keep saying, life has a flow.
Flow with it and you are having a great time.
Fight the flow, and you are in pain.

Many years ago, in San Francisco, I had a series of deep tissue 'Rolfings.'
Even the term sounds painful doesn't it. Some of them with Ida Rolf herself.
Bless her. That was a trip!

Here is the point: when the session starts it can be very, very painful.
The practitioner is digging deep into the connective tissue - in order to
break down the restricting structure that has built up through tension
created through unpleasant experiences over the years.

I used to do that every day with one of 'my' children.
After a while, with some awareness, the pain starts to dissipate.
If you mention to the practitioner that it is now more bearable they will
tell you that they are pushing in just as hard, but now you are not
resisting. Pain is resistance - on every level. If you 'allow' the pressure
it becomes just a sensation, then pleasure. Takes a bit of practice though!

Next thing. Karma. "As ye sow, so ye shall reap." Maybe it is true.
Maybe beings come into this dimension in order to 'burn off' past
unconscious actions; or to experience situations that will expand their
consciousness. What difference does it make? It is what it is.

Here is a consideration: If it is Karma - is it theirs? Yours? Or both?
And does it matter anyway? It is the way it is.

There are many new breakthroughs in the study of the mind.
At one time scientists were absolutely sure that once the brain was formed,
in childhood, it was downhill from there - because the brain cells died and
the brain could not renew or transform itself. Now we know differently.
We used to think the planet was flat as well. Sometime in what we call the
future people will be wondering how we could have been so unaware of how
things really are.

All things being equal, they are not equal. The mind likes to think it is in
control - so it reduce everything to the size it can handle. The mind cannot
handle what is bigger than the mind. Consciousness can envelope the mind,
but the mind is not big enough to encompass the vast simplicity of
consciousness.

So don't unnecessarily complicate your life, let it all go.
Stop holding - any ideas, or anything or, and live in the moment.
"As a little child."
