the navel. There are many descriptions for this centre.
The Physical Power Centre. Survival. Ego. Self definition. Communication.
It is said that if this centre is not developed the person does not feel
grounded, or a firm sense of themselves. Very few open this centre.
To display integrity and to look efficient it is said that in Japan business
men display their efficiency by emphasizing the centre - which they call The
Hara, by standing with their legs apart at should width, and have their
knees just slightly bent.
Try it - it gives the feeling of being firm and centred.
Buddha is often depicted with this area well rounded.
Being the centre of survival there is also residual anger.
We all have it. Childhood is very frustrating - let alone everyday living.
We can either express it, suppress it, or just let it be.
The latter is rare.
If we suppress it the energy goes inside, and eventually creates imbalance -
usually to the point of an illness.
Two ways of expressing - in the moment, or we let it build up and then
explode. Expressing it we become unpleasant to be around - touchy, hard to
please, 'pain in the ass.'
(Incidental, a recent survey showed that 45% of all marriages end in
divorce; 65% of all second marriages end in divorce; 85% of people in
marriages say they are unhappy in their relationship. 85% percent!!!
The figures for 'unfaithful' partners are staggering.)
There is another aspect of the centre that is more esoteric.
Some say that it is the communication point for connecting with the
universes. Thus we interpret the feelings as intuition and have the terms:
"Butterflies in the stomach." 'Gut feeling." The information is received at
this point, transferred to the heart, then passed to and interpreted by the
brain.
The jump to the fourth/heart centre is The Big One.
After that jump it can be a freewheeling.
That will be in Part Three.
