A Search for God Study Group 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

A Search for God Study Group meets Monday evenings from 7–9 p.m. Admission is free, open to All.  Participants, working in small, supportive, member-faciliated groups, seek step-by-step self-transformation by studying and applying the spiritual principles in the Edgar Cayce readings.  Facilitated by Norman Curtis or Group member.

Search for God (SFG) Study Groups are small groups of up to ten people who typically meet once a week in the home of one of the group members to study A Search for God, books I and II. These two books are based on a series of Edgar Cayce readings and offer lessons in spiritual growth designed to be practiced in a small-group format. Each week the group reads and discusses a portion of the book, then chooses an experiment or discipline related to the material read to apply during the following week.

Study groups also meditate and pray together. Several such groups currently meet in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and Long Island, and new groups are formed periodically. People interested in joining or starting a group can contact Norman Curtis, coordinator of Small Groups, ARE of NYC at either 212-691-7690 (the Center) or 212 864 4736, or e-mail: nac88@earthlink.net

Meditation Practice Group at ARE All Day

A Meditation Practice Group meets Tuesday evenings from 6–7 p.m in the A.R.E. of New York Center. The group will meditate together primarily using the methods described within the Cayce readings. We invite you to be a part of this newly forming group. Please note that we will begin promptly at 6pm. We trust you will understand that unfortunately, out of courtesy and respect for those currently in meditation, we will not be able to admit latecomers. Admission is Free and open to all. Schedule may vary. Check Calendar. Facilitated by Randall Okey.

Meditation Practice So many of us struggle to have greater depth and discipline in our experience with meditation. Oftentimes having a group structure and Instruction once a week helps to keep our Intention fresh and our practice consistent. The Edgar Cayce readings clearly present meditation as a foundation for spiritual growth and it is in fact the subject of the first chapter in the Search for God books upon which all the material following is built. The group will meditate together primarily using the methods described within the Cayce readings. This will be followed with a short session during which particular issues and individual problems associated with meditation can be brought forth and discussed. We will also look at other diverse meditation methods that could be of assistance to particular individuals.

Kundalini Yoga: Practice the Yoga of Awareness and Transformation: Weekly class and Special Workshops with Monica Pineda 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

This ancient practice seeks to open the natural flow of life energy through the system of chakras, or spiritual centers, enabling you to merge your individual consciousness with the universal consciousness. Learn the basics of breath, posture, meditation, movement and mantra as they are woven together in ancient kriyas (sets) that invigorate muscular, glandular and nervous systems.

Each week, Monica leads a kriya to benefit a specific system of the body, such as the immune system, heart and circulation, kidneys and liver, etc. This ongoing class is an excellent way to begin or continue the practice of Kundalini Yoga as brought to the West by Yogi Bhajan. Adults of all ages and abilities can benefit.

SINGLE CLASS: $20; Center Members: $18
Enroll for 9 classes, GET ONE FREE!
10-Class Card: $180, Center Members $162

Class may be practiced on mats or chairs. Adults of all ages and abilities are welcome. Please wear comfortable, loose clothing. Yoga mats and blankets are available at the Center (or bring your own). Space is limited. Please pre-REGISTER and arrive on time.

Monica Pineda has been teaching Kundalini Yoga to adults, children and yoga practitioners since earning her AGNI Yoga Certification Teacher's Level I with Lea Kraemer in December, 2001. She received her Master's Touch Int'l. Teacher Certification with Yogi Bhajan, Master of Kundalini Yoga, from the Kundalini Research Institute in New Mexico. Her gentle, supportive style of teaching combines meditation, mantras and chakra balancing exercises for transformation and healing. She also teaches Special Workshops focusing on specific detoxifying kriyas (sets) for heart, lungs, kidneys, skin and liver, as well as her weekly workshops. Monica's students appreciate her ability to attune to each person's needs.

A Course in Miracles Group at ARE 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

A Course in Miracles Group (ACIM) meets most Sundays from 4:30–6:00 p.m.  Admission is free. Schedule may vary. Check A.R.E. Calendar. For more information, email Tom Carelli : TheCourse@gmail.com.  For class information and updates, Visit : www.geocities.com/Area51/Nova/2131/ACIM.HTML

A.R.E./ACIM Group Most people are unaware of "A Course in Miracles" (ACIM) connection with the A.R.E. Edgar Cayce's son Hugh Lynn was one of the very few people shown the Course before it was published. He considered it to be a very important piece of work. Helen also spent time at the A.R.E. in Virginia Beach doing research. Our NYC A.R.E. Center now has its own ACIM study group.
